Every Farrell & Co piece is unique.

I source reclaimed and locally available materials in County Clare and carve beside the Atlantic in Doonbeg, as well as in other beautiful locations around Ireland. Sometimes that means working in sunshine, sometimes in wind and rain—but that is part of the process.

I believe that where a piece is made becomes part of what it is. The landscape, atmosphere, weather and character of Ireland are present in every carving, creating something that could never be exactly replicated.

Each piece takes time, patience and care to produce. I work with the natural character of the material rather than trying to make every piece identical. The grain, marks, texture and imperfections are part of its story.

Where possible, I choose materials that already have a life and a history, rather than relying on materials that require new natural resources to be taken from the landscape. I believe in keeping the journey from raw material to finished piece as short as possible, sourcing locally and making use of materials that form part of a natural or existing lifecycle.

For me, the material should tell its own story.

The grain may carry the marks of a previous life. The wood may have travelled with the Atlantic tide. The finished piece may carry the atmosphere of the place where it was carved.
